Stop a Cold, Prevent a Relapse
For patients with Fibromyalgia or ME/CFS, catching a cold is fraught with dire risks. Consequences can include cold symptoms that are far more severe and last longer than in non-patients, but the scariest risk is that a cold can lead to an FM flare or full blown ME/CFS relapse. Patients need to exercise extra caution in order to reduce this risk, and fortunately there are some amazingly effective things you can do to stop a cold and prevent a relapse.

Dr. Bateman, director of the Fatigue Consultation Clinic in Salt Lake City, answers patients' and professionals' questions about diagnosis, treatment, drugs, trials, massage, pregnancy, exercise, MD education, flu shots, shingles, why therapies can become less effective over time, and much more.

WEEKLY INSPIRATION

"I was trying to daydream, but my mind
kept wandering" - Steven Wright

Hope for a World Without ME/CFS/FM
"The world of medicine is changing. We are standing at a crossroads we have not seen since the 1940's when antibiotics emerged to control infectious disease. This crossroads is the point where in order to treat chronic illness we must look inside the cell, not just cover overall organ related symptoms. And nowhere is this crossroads more apparent than in the leper colonies of ME/CFS/FM. Let us hope that the children of today will see neuro-immune fatigue when they become adults as infrequently as we now see persons with leprosy."

From Cellular Hypoxia and Neuro-Immune Fatigue, a new book by Dr. David S. Bell, MD, explaining the reduced cellular energy production that may underlie ME/CFS, FM, and 'overlaping illnesses.
