QUESTION need advice
|
hello,
since my negative HIV test 3 months ago, i have been with 2 partners, once each, both times protected. if the condom had broken or slipped off, i was unaware, but i generally do a very good job of checking it out.
it's been close to 4 weeks, since the last partner, who finished on my lower stomach. i am now feeling tired and achy, i am occasionally sniffly, and have a sore/dry throat and cough. i also have some red, itchy spots.
does this sound at all like it could be symptoms of HIV? i am really worrying about this.
thank you in advance for your advice and support.

anxiety

sounds like you have a case of anxiety to me. this can cause (hives) itchy rashes and dry mouth. I would wait to have sexual relations with anyone until you have calmed down and if the red itchy spots become painful to the touch or get like small blisters get them checked for mrsa which is a antibiotic resistant infection that can be spread through contact by kissing and such. they look like small boils and sometimes they get very large and need to be lanced. but i am getting ahead of myself here. if they go away you need not worry. go to web md and check out mrsa and if you have children don't kiss them yet until you know what you have. mrsa can be cured but it takes a long regimen of different antibiotics to get rid of it. I know because my sister and her family had it from a fall which caused a large scratch and it became infected with the mrsa which was spread to her husband and children by kissing them all before she knew she had it. they have all recovered from it but it took a year.

Worth getting checked out but probably not worth anxiety yet...
|
From your story, it sounds like HIV transmission was unlikely. Also (and don't quote me on this, as I am not a doctor), I don't think you'd be likely to have directly related symptoms that quickly after transmission. That said, getting tested again would be a good idea; it's never a bad idea. And while I'd guess you've probably got nothing to worry about, it would be a good idea to go to a doctor to discuss your symptoms so you can get checked out and determine what, if anything, is the matter. It could simply be a seasonal illness. Aside from the rashes (which could be unrelated), I had the same exact thing over Christmas. It lasted a while but I got over it in about a week and half. If you are concerned about HIV, you could also get more HIV info from your doctor -- and also the CDC website or other websites of government/official medical organizations -- to help put your mind at ease. With a doctor's visit, you ought to be able to answer all your questions and concerns, so I hope you won't continue to be as anxious unless you hear otherwise (and I doubt you will hear otherwise). :)
All my best,
-TL
