I am concern I got HIV and STD form Non Risk Act
|
Hello,
Very nervous and scared inregards to a exposure I had few days ago.
I recently, received a protected oral sex with a condom type unknown from a sex worker ( I know, big mistake of my life ).
48 hours later, I start having pelvic pain, burning in thigh and pelvic, tip of penis pain, and knee pain.
My doctor thinks that its prostate infection.
From this act, I am sure I did become infected.
My concern is that am I at risk for HIV ?
I am nervous that I may of have contracted HIV from such act ?
I used a condom, how did I become infected with a infection ?

Condom

A condom is never 100% protection against any STD! Having said that, HIV symptoms usually present as flu symptoms which yours are not. It could be as your doctor said or another STD. But to ease your mind, have yourself tested.

HIV?
|
HIV is contracted through exposure to either blood or semen/vaginal fluid. Unless she/he had some type of cut on the mouth that somehow touched you through the condom, you don't have to worry about it being HIV if you only received oral sex. You may be experiencing some other type of infection though. Getting checked out never hurts.

I, Like many other posters here, do NOT have HIV/AIDS
|
I have many autoimmune/neuromuscular diseases, but, had caught someone else's post/question of EBV. Anyhow, It's been 5 months now, I see, since the last response even on this thread,... having said that, though... I need to point out, that you said ***48 hours*** after the oral sex you received, WITH a condom, you got pelvic pain, etc etc etc... A PROSTATE infection, as your doctor suspects, (your DOCTOR SHOULD HAVE EXPLAINED BETTER TO YOU!) is probably all that it is... I can't honestly think of ANY STD that appears within 48hrs, or less... I believe even *herpes* may have somewhat an incubation (dormant/hiding period, or takes time, to show up) herpes could be days, but, even then if it were *herpes* from a cold sore, etc from the workers mouth... it wouldn't cause pelvic pain, & other symptoms... Please, anyone, and everyone, who is sexually active AT ALL, and in ANY WAY SHAPE, OR FORM!!! PLEASE EDUCATE YOURSELVES ON ALL STD'S/STI'S AND YOUR BODY IN GENERAL, By doing so, you can set your minds at ease, (as in this case right here, knowing signs/symptoms of a prostate infection, verses an STD of any kind) for women, knowing the difference between, say, a yeast infection, vaginosis/vaginitis, pain from endometriosis, Polycystic Ovary Syndrome, etc... verses pain, or even 'abnormal' discharge, etc from something else, like an STD... knowing that missed periods may be a sign of PCOS or Endometriosis, can spare young, active women from 'pregnancy' scares... Educate on protection, even though this poster seemed to have knowledge of *protection* during oral sex... it could benefit to read on ALL STD's, signs, symptoms, and 'incubation' periods... so that you can be clear on how SOON symptoms of an STD/STI might appear, and what they might be... Could save a lot of people here, a lot of worries on themselves, and also aid in seeking early treatment/testing, whether it turns out to be HIV, any STD, or something totally different altogether, that was mimicking symptoms. Peace 2 all, Laura
