I am thinking I might be positive

I went thru this scare a few years ago and came out but this time I havent done anything sexual but been still kind a feeling funny with my stomach and having acid reflux and so Doctor gave me some blood work to get done and have a upper gi series and abdominal scan done did that and my doctor gave me protonix as well my blood work came back with a stomach infection and also I have acid reflux and hiatel hernia not sure about the stomach infection but saw the gi specialists and he said I had the hiatel hernia and sometimes it produces a bacteria that goes into your stomach and leaves tumours and polyps so he would have said I was hiv positive i would think if they knew right they told me and it didnt seem to be important so my guess its just a stomach bacterial infection he will go in and take out the tumours or polyps and see what damage i have from the acid reflux and hernia and give me anitbiotics do you think i might be hiv positive? I had test done during when the said i had prostitius and went every 3 months and thru over a year all negative. I do work at a senior home and possible gotten bacterial infection there and can a stomach bacterial infection be inside of you for a while not really notice. I am scared gi doctor didnt mention about the infection part of the test other than it happens with acid reflux there is a bacterial that clings to your stomach and intestines wall I have not lossed weight I have gained in 3 months 12.5lbs and lost a few pounds cause of nerves i do have a white tongue due to dry mouth no vomiting just nausea's at times due to acid reflux and my eating habits are terrible as well so do you think its hiv? please help me and thank you.

Hi

Just curious if you were checked for gallstones. I had them for several years, undiagnosed. I was so sick and became progressively worse until I was lucky enough to see a doctor who found them. It takes a very simple test to find them, a ultrasound.

Once the gallbladder was removed in 11/06 I was immediately better.

Steve....

The bacteria the GI doctor was talking about, from acid reflux, is called Helicobacter Pylori, or "H. Pylori" for short. A very simple blood test can/will tell your doctor if you have it or not, and, yes, it CAN cause certain things, but, I don't think the doctor meant that you HAVE any tumors or polyps... the doctor will not know that, without doing a colonoscopy, and endoscopy.

Simple stomach problems, (well, not 'simple, they can cause horrible illness- I know this if anyone does!!!!) but, stomach problems... do not indicate HIV/AIDS.

I'm not sure how you are worrying about AIDS, due to stomach problems (acid reflux).. it sounds like you may be very 'fixated' on HIV/AIDS... it is good to be AWARE, and careful... but, don't let your mind take over..

If you tested already, every 3 months, for a year, and were negative, then, why so worried now, (and not having been sexually active????)

If AIDS is still a concern of yours, even after (4?) negative tests, mention this to your regular doctor, get tested again, so that you can stop worrying about it.

Take care
