die-off

i'm on my 3rd day of candistroy and i think i'm experiencing my first bout of die-off. this isn't pretty and i'm assuming it's only going to get worse from here on out, since i'm supposed to increase my dosage as the weeks continue.
umm, this is kind of scary people. are there any doctors on this forum? this is all very weird and new to me. it also doesn't help that my primary didn't really want to offer any medical advice, which i mean, i don't blame her. in the event anything happens to me i doubt she'd want to be held responsible.
ANYWAY, i took my dose this morning and immediately after eating puffed millets with rice milk i felt like SHTI. from that point on it got progressively worse. i was so tired and fatigued that i had to go back to bed. i slept for a couple of more hours and woke up still feeling tired.
after waking up i forced myself to work-out, which was another struggle. after about half an hour of exercising my chest started feeling really restricted and i was getting dizzy after every set.
i stopped working out and showered. in the shower i just felt drained. i also feel like someone punched me in each ear. right now both of my ears still ache.
has anyone on here successfully progressed through die-off? this is only day one and this is unreal. is this going to be an every day thing? i don't see how people who work or have kids do this...

I know what you're going through!

I think the healing process is different for different people but what I've experienced has been periods of "remission" followed by bouts of chronic fatigue and about a million symptoms-you name it wierd or unusual I've experienced it! Each time I adjust my program or add something new I experience "symptoms". I just added a new probiotic called Theralac (not threelac) which is VERY potant! I noticed the effects by the end of the night. I have yeast in my sinus cavities and that just were it went to work. I have felt like I have a severe head cold or sinus infection for about a week (the length of time I have been taking the new probiotic) so I now recognize this as "die off". I have had so many symptoms affecting every part of my body and it is both frightening and exhausting. Try to embrace this and go along with it. The symptoms are so extreme sometimes I kept questioning it thinking there has got to be something more seriously wrong-I have had many things checked out and I have come to realize IT'S ALL YEAST! Now when these moments hit I just tell myself it's all part of the healing process and it will pass-AND IT ALWAYS DOES. You aren't hurting yourself, you're taking a proactive stance to heal. There are ups and downs but eventually your body will heal and you will feel better. I'm a stay at home mom and I'm able to keep up with the demands of two+children, house, husband, and chores but I'm definately exhausted by the end of the day. I don't think I could maintain a job right now though. Hang in there you're doing the right thing!

P.S. When your body is killing off the yeast it uses extra water in elimination so make sure to drink plenty of pure water. When I was going through heavy die off I used pedialyte because I would get so dehydrated. Pedialyte has a balanced amount of sodium, potassium, and dextrose-yes dextrose. Your body does need it to function. If you are getting dizzy or light headed add a little pedialyte-it will help balance your electrolytes.(Plain, clear pedialyte-tastes a little gross but it does help)

pedialyte

In my opinion, ingesting a substance with glucose is not a smart thing to do....fungus will feed on it and grow....stick to H2O and lots of it.

Electrolytes

I have been to the ER during tough bouts of die off(not knowing what it was) and had blood panels done-both times my electrolytes were slightly low. Once I added pedialyte, I started feeling much better. Drinking extra water is good but it can offset sodium. I don't think the small amount of dextrose in the pedialyte caused any setbacks for me. I got really sick from the die off and it helped me tremendously through some tough times.

so lost

i stopped taking the candistroy on an empty stomach and i haven't had anything weird happen to me since. i'm supposed to up the dose starting on wed, so we'll see what happens then. i'm just feeling really guilty for eating that popcorn now. i don't want all of this to be for nothing. i also eat beans, which i have no idea if that's good or bad either. i hope i haven't been doing all of this crap for nothing. i'm sick of having to cook all of my meals. i'm sick of eating the same redundant crap over and over. this would be a lot easier if i just knew if it was working. i don't have any measurable symptoms. i don't know what the hell is going on!!!@#$#@#@!!

It's always hardest at first.....

As you gain knowledge of your body(and the yeast diet) and the best foods that work for you, it does get easier. It's always hardest at first but eventually you'll find a system that works for you. One of the food lists I have said beans were fine. I eat them fairly often and I don't think they've slowed my progress. Don't feel guilty for eating certain foods-most things in moderation and eaten occasionally are fine if it keeps you from feeling so restricted and miserable. Healing takes time but it has it's rewards-a healthy functional body without symptoms. It's not all for nothing because you have noticed some positive changes in your body. Keep us posted on your bloodwork.

Yes, I have made it through

The first time was 25 years ago. Terrible depression, pms, pain all over. The yeast free diet gave me a die off in about a week. Then I woke up to a new person that I could not believe was me. It is a gift to discover this diet.

Now I am 54. I woke up pain all over after an antibiotic and many years of eating anything I wanted and drinking wine. This pain was so severe I could not believe it was Candida. After 3 weeks on the diet, not much better I went to a rhuematologist and of course diagnosed with RA. She said nothing would help but drugs.
She was wrong I am now pretty sure. 3 weeks into the diet very strictly this time, I am feeling better. Gave up the "immune suppressant" she gave me which is very detrimental with yeast as it is hurting your immunity anyway! My head and body is clearing.
will post if I heal completely. The dieoffs don't last long with me, and each time it is met with great improvement. I went for years with out the diet, this time I am sticking to it forever with a little "fun" after I am completely healed. Fun meaning a little potatoe and some dessert once a week only! pj

die-off

Good luck to you, Jenny Bee. I have hesitated to go full out on a yeast killer just for that reason. Anything that gets done here is done by me and that includes taking care of two cats. I can't afford to feel worse than I do.

What a conundrum, right?!

Marta
