Hi MJM
|
Welcome to the board. This no sleep thing is really a pain, isn't it. I had insomnia even when I was a child. Got Chronic Fatigue about 30 years ago, and things got even worse. I've tried lots of pills and what not. A few things helped for a while, but the effect wore off. Now I'm old and retired so it doesn't matter too much anymore. But trying to live a normal life w/o regular sleep is really a tough row to hoe. Come visit the chit chat board. Good place to chat about other things: kids, TV, pets, recipes, jokes, etc. About the only social life I have any more. Rock

nights are long

I would say insomnia is my single biggest problem to address with fms. I know I had some symptoms as a child, slept poorly in college situations, and even when my children were young and they would stand by my bed, I would reply "WHAT?" before they ever said a word. I slept so lightly I was never sure I slept at all. Now I am 65 and after years of working with this particular family doctor, he does believe my sleep issues and will write scripts that I need. He doesn't approve of how I take my meds, as I take 10 mg. ambien and either half or full 5 mg. valium. The valium is to help put me to sleep, the ambien to keep me sleeping. I can tell exactly when the meds wear off..... my mind is awake even though my body doesn't want to move, and there is never any going back to sleep. I know better that I need enough drugs at night or the following day is pain filled, problem filled and miserable in general. I keep a box fan on the floor beside my bed, turn the ringer off on the phone, keep only cell phone there, and have sent spouse across the hall with his snoring and dancing restless legs. I like a cool room. He can nap with a marching band going through a room. I have to have total quiet and a state of relaxation. All this about me isn't going to help you, but know you are not alone, and if you can get something to help you sleep try to get it. My spouse has one night maybe every 9 months where he lies in bed and can't sleep and he is soon asking for one of my "goof balls". Strange if I take it they are called that, but if he needs it they are life savers. I hear there are some nature type things you can take.... many people on here are very smart in those departments. If you know how to do a search I am sure you could keep reading a great deal as it has all been discussed time and time again. Sorry you face a day that is doomed from last night.

all last night. First time in many years. My allergies were terrible last night so I took 3 OTC allergy pills. (Can't spell anahistimine) Slept all night. Got up briefly. Then slept all morning. See the CFS/FM board for 2 theads on this topic. Rock
