Lyrica

Hello, Have not been in here for a while but does anyone in here take Lyrica for diabetic nerve damage? I was thinking of trying it as I have some burning/stabbing pains on the bottom of my feet and was wondering if anyone else does and if Lyrica is helping at all? Thanks!

Yes...

my husband takes it. He started it for restless leg syndrome but he is insulin dependant and I think it is helping him durring the day too. He can't sleep through the night if he doesn't take it. It's supposed to work for fibromyalgia too.

Hi, Thanks for your reply. I will discuss this with my Dr. when I see her in Jan. Sounds like it would really help me alot. Glad to know it is helping your husband.

Lyrica

Lyrica is also being prescribed for an anxiety disorder. My doctor suggested Lyrica for me, but having an anxiety disorder, I didn't want to change my medication.

Lyrica....no Cymbalta....yes

I took Lyrica for 3 months for fibromyalgia. I gave it up because of the side effects.....constipation, inability to concentrate, memory problems. I have had very good luck with with Cymbalta.

Lyrica

This is to inform you, that I too take Lyrica 300mg twice daily. Finding that Lyrica helps the nerve pain some; the pain specialist also put me on Cyambalta 60mg twice daily. I am finding with the combination of Lyrica and Cymbalta has a greater effect on diabetic nerve pain and Fibromyalgia pain. And helps me cope with the depression better. It helped me so much that I was able to cut way back on the Vicoden that I take for pain. Somedays, not having to take any at all. I too have the burning/stabbing/numbness on the bottom of my feet. I also take 1500mg of Metformin daily. There are so many medical factors/symptons; the doctors are now finding out, that go with Fibromyalgia and Diabetes. Be aware that Myfascial Pain Syndrome may also be involved.

[This Message was Edited on 08/07/2009]

Lyrica

I take Neurotin for my diabetic neuropathy. I wanted to try Lyrica and I did, but had to go back to Neurotin because the Lyrica made my feet and hands swell too much. The Neurotin works fine for me with no side effects.

I also take Cymbalta which is recommended for diabetic neuropathy. I take a total of 60 mg a day. Taking the entire dose in the AM caused me to be too sleepy during the day, so my doc perscribes it in 30 mg capsules to take 1 in the AM and 1 in the PM. That works great.

I have take both of these for years now.

Good luck.
