new to diabetes/on fibro board for awhile

i am going through the angry stage right now i have so much wrong an then find i am diabetic also started with diagnosis of insulin resistance. i go in next tues for the nutritonist and meter a 4 hour class.

my dad had diabetes so did his mom and a couple of his brothers, but the thing that bothers me is my neighbor had it and had amputations and it took her life early. with fibro and everything else i am mad that i got this also my 2 brothers and 1 sister are relitively healthy and i get all the junk past on to me.

trying to learn as much as i can so my fears will calm down because it is causing my fibro to flare with my worries.

i am on disability also and the cost of the food i have to eat is out of this world no wonder so many people eat junk food it is all they can afford. my doctor put me on the "sugar busters diet" in january but no matter what i did i couldn't lose weight. iam not all that active due to fibro so exercise is next to none i tried a exercise bike but it bothered me to much.

my b-friend eats frozen entries all the time pizza's,burrito's, etc i told him i can't eat those things anymore so now we buy twice the food his and mine and he is going crazy over the cost of food but won't change to eat healthier.

one of the meds i am on for fibro causes me to crave chocolate and i can't have it. all i see right now is i am not going to be able to battle this the way i should i have cheated on the no sugar no carbs over the year and it is so hard for me to do.

any hope is greatly appreciated.
rose

I also have fibro and diabetes

I know how you feel. I know it is hard to make it on disability and hard to buy healthy foods on disability, I am in the same situation you just have to try and make the healthiest choices you can.

It is hard this time of year especially with the holidays and our diseases. I have been dealing with a fibro flare too.

During Thanksgiving I made a trip to South Texas to see my daddy, Step-mom, Daughter and her hubby, my Granny and Papa.

We went my hubby, myself, my son and My brother and his wife. My brother has diabetes and fibro too and my sister in-law has fibro. It was a hard trip for us but it would have been harder, well impossible for my dad and step-mom. So they sent us money for gas and food to come there.

My feet swell very rarely in fact they have atrophied due to diabetic neuropathy but they swelled on this trip. So we made the 8-9hr trip and my feet were so big that I needed houseshoes. So me and my daughter and sister in-law went to walmart, my sister in-law had swelled feet too. While we were there my right foot tore open, my shoe made it tear.

We got back to the house and I put a bandaid on it and I also had water blisters from the swelling so on the big water blister I put a bandaid. The next day I took off the bandaid from the water blister and the skin tore off of the foot alot. So then I had an ulcer.

So now I have that going on top of all my other problems. I just recently found out I had sleep apnea and I had a pimple by my nose, or I thought it was a pimple well now it is like my foot like an ulcer so I can't even use my breathing machine at night.

During my sleep study I stopped breathing 27 times per hour a night and never went into R.E.M. sleep. So I know how you feel what is next. I also just recently found out I have arthritis in my back and degenerative disc disease.

But I still think there is hope for you and me if we try. I have to I have a son with autism, epilepsy and other major medical problems so I have to keep going, I think if my son can so can I. So think we could both keep in touch if you want and we could both make each other try. Only if you would like to. My name is Pamela, I love your name, that is my favorite type of flower.

I was wondering what fibro med makes you crave chocolate? I know I crave it all the time, that is why I was wondering. You can get sugar free chocolate things, they may not be as good but it is better than the sugar kind. We could knid of make each other go on and get through the messes we are in.

I am on Novolin insulin 3x per day how about you? That is the only diabetes meds I am taking at this time I am on many other meds for many other things. But I was wondering what you are taking for your diabetes? I better go Pamela

fibro and diabetes

I too have diabetes and firbro as well as many other things. There are many drugs that make us crave things we shouldn't have. Actos a deiabetes drug makes you crave chocalote, as well. Many drugs make you crave things that make you gain wieght or just make you gain wieght. These are all things Dr. should tell you instead of just complaining about wieght, they should tell you what part of the problem is.
