Scam watch: The most ridiculous TV snippet ever broadcast?
|
Check this out, it's so laughable, it's criminal - except it's not, it's encouraged by the National ME Centre - British Government grant funded charities such as: AYME (Association Of Young People with ME) AFME (Action for ME) and British state hospital trusts, such as the renoun GOSH (NHS Great Ormand Street Hospital) in London. Coming to America soon? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=95jVNtjAYPI You bet ya....

It is laughable and so sad at the same time. The woman on the video was sick for four months. Ridiculous. If my thinking, such as focusing on positive things, and imagining being energetic, I would have been well years ago. If I were a patient in the UK, I would be furious. I am furious. I liked towards the end where she says if you are skeptical it won't work. How much is 600 pounds is American Dollars? I think that was the amount mentioned. We should start a group also called "STOP" to provide information about these scams. Information is power. Thank you for bringing this up. gap

I'm betting...

I'm betting that woman is a great hypnotic subject. Which is not a bad thing necessarily at all. Anyway, it sounds more like hypnosis parading under another name & 'mystique', which can be quite powerful in aiding suggestibility ... & which can help a certain percentage of people as has been documented. If it's so good, they should run some double-blind studies, and it would be interesting to also document pts' hypnotic susceptibilities as well. I have a friend with ME (FM) who swears her pain was taken away after attending a healing revival that apparently happens often in Thomasville, GA. all the best, Victoria

really, you do?

I don't know what the name of it is or the church (if there is one) or what... but I could maybe find out for you tho I've been out of touch with her for a while. We lived in Athens til about 18 months ago when we moved to Mexico. I'll see what I can find out, but can't guarantee it. I just remember her talking about it a couple of years agp, she may have gone a few times, not sure; I don't really remember the details. It's mind-bending that healings can take place even if one is not a believer, it has happened.
Back to hypnosis, I once used hypnosis to bring down a poison ivy rash within 45 minutes, I kid you not. But I remember I was highly determined about it - requires a special state of mind that I find hard to replicate with a foggy brain actually. I should make myself a hypnosis tape, except I find my own voice boring (LOL). all the best, Victoria

Hyp to be Cured

Oh ya, we had an old Doc who used to do surgery with just hypnosis in my little town. Nobody died, as far as I know. But seriously, if we have an infection and/or neurological damages and changes, faith healings will only make us feel better for awhile at best. For $1000 [is that about 600lb?]we might do better to get a Lyme test done!!

I am a christian and I put no one down for religious beliefs. I am here God knows that and what his plan for me is. I will find out! It is between us though, as I have said many times on this board religion and politics. You do not discuss, I respect everyone else's but I also believe both of those things are private. Thanks again hensue

My friend is a Christian as well, I fully respect all people's religious beliefs - nothing i said was meant to be a put down of her or anyone else. I do believe that our minds can be amazing, and that we can and should work with what we've been given--- our amazing brain - regardless of any beliefs or lack thereof. Svette-Palm, yes, I agree one should try to find out what is the root cause(s), and treat from there as needed. But in addition, Simington's (sp) work with terminal cancer pts showed a small but significant percentage of improvement using visualization, thought I remembered it worked fairly long term considering the terminal diagnoses given these pts, plus an improvement in quality of life. Repeated use of visualization techniques helps, of course. Even in psychology, flooding & extinction techniques have to be repeated more than once to fully work and last. At any rate, my son is using prayer along with visualization techniques to help combat Lyme along with other treatments... he definitely feels it helps him .. all the best, Victoria

This is a very narrow minded small town. I did not grow up here I grew up in Florida. So when I got here it was like what?? I came here my senior year of high school. It is a great place to bring up children and a lot of old money contibuted to the town. I have traveled in not all the states but probably 75% of them. I will say it is one of the prettiest places I have ever lived. By the way I am sure it is warm in Mexico, it hit almost 80 degree with plenty of sunshine. I am so sorry about your son. I hope he continues with his prayers, my prayers have worked miracles in my life. Take care hensue

my son has had a lot of growing up to do early in life, that's for sure. Thomasville was rated as one of the best places to live in recent years, tho I never got to visit. I always wanted to. The only reason we preferred living in the upper half of Georgia was because it was above the 'gnat line'... also the alligator line! (We're from Chicago originally). I'm up about 7200' elevation in Mexico, so we have pretty temperate weather year-round :) Pretty much Indian Summer thru winter, rainy season is summer like Florida.... ok, returning this thread back to scam-watchers! all the best, Victoria
