I had mono and strep throat as a late teen and through my 20's and early 30's I would regularly get a sore throat or strep throat. I started to realize when I got run down or was stressed I would get a sore throat. Would that be reoccurring EBV?

During the last few years I notice when I get run down or push myself too much that instead of a sore throat I now get sore/itchy ears (sometimes just one ear) and they fell runny. Inside is ear canal feels wet. Could this be a reoccurring virus and if so does anyone know what virus in particular?

I've never had a blood test to show viral antibodies etc.

My daughter has recurring strep infections in her throat and sometimes she gets an earache with it.

She does get antibiotics for it and it clears up but it just keeps coming back. She does get tested for each sore throat and it always comes back as strep.

Your symptoms could be viral in nature too. Next time you have an active infection, you might want to ask for a culture for strep as well as some bloodwork. It could help diagnostically to either rule something out or perhaps find a cause.
