Christy Foster, a musician who is currently in remission from debilitating fibromyalgia, wrote “Flare,” a song about what it's like to have FM. She and her rock band Christy & the Professors recently released this music video of “Flare.” Christy told ProHealth that she wants to give a voice to people with fibromyalgia.
TO CHRISTY AND THE PROFESSORS: MY SOUL IS SO GRATEFUL FOR THIS SONG. IT IS SO GREAT TO KNOW MY SOUL IS STILL ALIVE. IT IS SUCH A GRATIFYING AND STRONG SONG THAT SAYS SO MUCH. SOMEONE LIKE ME THAT KNOWS THE TRUE SUFFERING OF WHAT THEY CALL FIBROMYALGIA APPRECIATES YOUR COURAGE TO STAND UP FOR US. UNFORTUNANELY, IT JUST BEGINS TO DESCRIBE THE FEELINGS IN US THAT WE FEEL TOWARDS THE HEARTLESS AND IGNORANT PEOPLE OF THIS WORLD. Don't misunderstand me, I felt the POWER coming out of your soul full force!! The desperation we have felt for so long, your "VOICE" MADE ME FEEL UNDERSTOOD FOR A MOMENT. I BELIEVE IT WAS THE BEST MOMENT I FELT IN A LOOOOOOOONG TIME. THE STRENGTH THAT I ACTUALLY FELT FROM THE WORD FLARE. IT GAVE ME STRENGTH AND HOPE THAT BEING BEDRIDDEN IS A FLARE,THAT ONE DAY WILL SUBSIDE!! THEY SEEM TO GET LONGER AS TIME GOES BY. I JUST PRAY YOUR SONG CONQUERS SOME COMPASSION OUT THERE!! THANKS AGAIN FOR GIVING ME A VOICE WHEN MINE IS WEAK, FOREVER GRATEFUL!! HE GIVES POWER TO THE FAINT; AND TO THOSE WHO HAVE NO MIGHT, HE INCREASETH THEIR STRENGTH!!! BY THE WAY, GOD GAVE YOU A BEAUTIFUL AND POWERFUL GIFT....YOUR VOICE.
