hemrrhoids

I dont know if I spelled it right , But I have a question its been a couple of months now and my teenage son been having change of bowel habbits along with hemrrhoids he been to a family physician and I been self manageing his care from over the counter products because the physician said that he did examin him and he did feel one hemrrhoid . but this was Sept , 9 2008 he said if it keeps bothering him then he will have to see a gastro enterologist. How long does it takes for hemrrhoids to heel? I never had hemmrroids before and this is definitly my son first encounter with hemrrhoids being 16years old he is embaraced to go to school,Because of the irratation and the privacy is not so good and he says the bathrooms are always dirty and he does not feel comfortable having a bowel movement in school. The medication he is using is the Tucks wipes with witch hazel and peperation H suppositories, what else can I do?

I think its time your son goes to a gastroentrologist

Hemmorhoids don't heal and they stay. They get very bad and a co-worker years ago got so bad he had to have the "rubber band" procedure done and said it was successful but wouldn't talk any more about it.

Your son is very young to get hemmorrhoids so it's probably time to go to the specialist and have a full checkup especially since there are bowel changes and see if the specialist can do any procedure or even "rubber band" the hemmorrhoid so you son can live a normal life in school. Good luck and hugs.

The Doctors on TV did a spot on this yesterday

The Doctors on TV did a spot on this yesterday. There are two types of hemmorhoids--internal and external. Your son is dealing with the external type and they are are the type that hurt the worst of the two. I'm hoping you caught that show and if not, here is the synopis of the show and if you scroll down you'll find the part on the hemmorhoids:

hemorrhoids

Hi,
I have bad hemorrhoids and the gastro doc said it was very important to take extra fiber. I use a liquid fiber supplement so that your stools are softer and it's way easier to go. If the hemorrhoids get bad they usually do surgery to remove them.

take care,
kbak
