IBs with severe cramping with Vertigo

Have had IBS diagnosed for several years, almost always with constipation. Usually pass small pellets or perhaps larger but vy hard to pass. Two nights ago woke up at 1 AM with vy hard ,painful cramping which lasted for 4 hrs bf I could pass anything. I tried warm water and later hot ,black coffee which may have had some effect.
I experienced something new, Vertigo almost to the point of fainting. Tried to get from the bathroom to the bed but legs went out from under me ( did not exactly pass out ) and fell. Thank God, i was not hurt, so then attempeted to get my husband, who was upstairs asleep, attention and managed to make my way to the foot of the stairs, reeling and stumbling all the way. It finally let up after probably 10 min or so and eventually was able to pass BMs. I feel ok now but am a bit concerned as these same symptoms, minus the IBS are also symptoms of a TIA.
Has anyone else experienced this ? It almost feels as if my bowel is blocked when this occurs and I have had 2 colonoscopys that did not show any problems. The Dr who did them commented " your guts are in a mess ", whatever that was meant to mean. I have had 2 abdominal surgeries but years ago with no poblems at that time.
Am now 71 years and also have Diabetes, HBP, Fibro, High Chol but don't know that any of these would have that effect on one.

Hi Junie

If I get stressed enough, my IBS-D (Irritable Bowel Syndrome-Diahrea) will go from just diahrea to diahrea and vomiting at the same time. What happens to me sometimes when I have severe vomiting and dry heaves is that the doctor told me it can cause vertigo for a while as apparently it does something to the balance in your ears and head. It means for weeks afterwards I have to watch if I try to stand up or if I am laying down and try to sit up as the vertigo kicks in. The doctor said there is a simple procedure for it, but I don't want him doing any procedures and the vertigo eventually passes and I am extra careful until it does.

Also below is the Web MD diet for those who have IBS-C (Irritable Bowel Syndrome-Constipation) and it is lots of fiber and lots of water. Good luck and hugs.
