Any thing over the counter that is good?

I have IBD and RA . Recently constipation is kicking my butt.
It can last up to five days . I take colace just about everyday to off set my pain pills but lately it's not helping me at all. So my husband bought me correctal and using that is almost the worst pain imaginable. I don't have medical ins right now so I have to use an OTC med. Any suggestions?

OTC meds

MiraLax has been really helpful for me, it's pricey but it worth it. Most of the time half a dose works for me once things get a moving :)
There is a $2.00 coupon on there web site you can get.

constipation

Hi, I suffer with IBS. Try acidophillus (sp?), that helps me alot (I have to take 2-3 3 times a day. Drink lots of extra water and I try to take soluable and insoluable fiber drinks or in pill form. Metamucil makes cookies in apple and cinnamon (which I really like) and try to eat those on a regular basis.

I also love the Sunsweet prunes - the orange essence ones, be careful not to eat too many - not that I think it can hurt with the problems we have. When it gets real bad, I have used an enema for faster relief.

A friend said that Activia (in the dairy case) works really well, gets you going - not diarrhea and keeps your system clear. I'm really sensitive to dairy (not sure how much - if any is in it) and can swing to diarrhea pretty fast so I haven't tried that yet.

Oh, and digestive enzymes with meals help alot too. They help break the food down so you absorb more nutrients and the food is passes through your system easier.

Hope some of these work for you.
