New Too Board - Long Poast Looking For Help
|
In a nut shell had Gastric bypass (Ru-N-Y) December 1999, definitely have malabsorption problem since then, gass, bowel problems, not severe. Fast forward Novemeber 2007 upon having my 5 year colonoscopy doctor discovers pre-cancerous leasion which cannot be removed through scope. Go to surgeon have right section large intestine removed. TADA-now I have on top of my FM, bowel problems not to be believed. I either do not go for 2-days or when I go pure diarrhea 3-4 x in one day for 2-3days. when I spoke with the surgeon he said to take Imodium. Well when I do that, I do not go for a week. I am lactose intolerant and if I chose to eat dairy I take lactaid pills right before. I love yogurt and cheese so when I eat those I take the pills. I know my system is messed up because of all the surgeries. I also know that it does not matter what I eat. Anything can set it off. What I want to know is, 1. Is there a special eating program that I should be on that will help as I really do not want to be on meds unless absolutely necessary, as I have been weaned of of most of my meds except for Lyrica for the FM, Priolosec for my stomach, Requip for restless leg and occaisionaly Luenesta if I cannot get to sleep. Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated. I go to my Primary in March for my yearly physical and will be sure he tests me for IBS. Thanking you all in advance and wishing a Happy and Healthy New Year Phyliss

Most of the insurance plans allow for you to see a nutritionist when you develop problems such as yours, especially after a gastric bypass. I think that would be the best idea. Because you had the gastric bypass, I would go back to that post-surgery diet to give your stomach and intestines a rest until you can get to the nutritionist to work things out. Good luck.

This helped me
|
I've had urgent, no warning D and constipation. I take 3 100% soluble Fiber pills in the morning before I eat or drink anything. I also take a probiotic pill every day. Then my new gastro doc put me on low dose, Nortriptyline, which is an anti-depressant, to help slow my digestive tract. This causes constipation, but then he told me to take Miralax. I don't think you could take that if you are lactose intolerant. It's a laxative and I was really nervous to take that but it helped to give me formed, soft stools and no urgent D. Since I'm going to the bathroom more often and more completely, I have way less gas too.
