symptoms of IBS?
|
Hi all, I'm usually on the Fibromyalgia board, but now here cause I'm wondering what the heck is wrong with my stomach!!! Started having probs in Sept. 07 with heartburn/indigestion, and a little bloating/gas. BTW, for some reason this is embarassing for me to talk about! Anyway, it's gotten progressively worse. Now I have constant bloating/gas, pain in all parts of my stomach off and on, and if I don't take the nexium I get terrible chest pain and heartburn. I never have diarhea, i suffer from constipation most of the time. So, ct scan was normal. go back to doctor next week to see what he wants to do next. I have a feeling it's ibs, but I guess everything else has to be ruled out first. Anyone have any advice for me????

symptoms of IBS?
|
hi all, i too have to watch my bowels and make sure i dont get constipated. ive recently been listening to my body, and i do find that what where panic attacks, were actually gas building up in my intestines, then the gas would come up, sort of in my chest.i would find it hard to breath, and get myself in a panic. so now,in my case.i accept that for whatever reason,i have pockets of gas in my intestines, between pieces of food in the guts.so chew food up well, and dont talk while eating. this gas needs to come out, either top, or bottom end of me.. i must keep on the move after eating a meal, and this encourages the food to move down through my guts, and the wind to find its way out of me. when i feel that horrid chokey feeling in my chest, its just the wind/gas, stuck in my chest and restricting my breathing.i need the gas to come out naturally. so when you eat a meal,,, dont drink between eating the food, but rather have a drink when you have finished the meal.try to sip the drink,i do it like 10 sips at a time..like i would do to stop hickups. after that ill not sit, or lay down ,for about 30 mins, but will keep active, then the wind comes out of my body naturally. in recognising that its wind stuck in my chest, and not asthma, or a heart attack,im now not going into panic attacks, thankfully. the most recent things that ive added to my diet to ease constipation is,,1 activia yogurt at 7pm,and a peeled pear.i also eat a handfull of various nuts,to give me fibre.i eat those in the afternoon. drink water through out the day,but not too much.this helps to soften the stools. so far my bowels are working great, and im retaining energy. take care, love fran

I use ultimate cleanse. I have had constipation for so long I don't even know what it is like to be normal in that department. Then over the past five or so years gas began to be a real problem and then last year it got so bad it was becoming a social issue. The ultimate cleanse helps me to stay fairly regular, but I must must must drink with a full glass of water and room temperature water seems to work best. Also helps with bloating and gas. Good luck. IBS/GAS
|
I too get embarassed about this issue, however I think the more we talk about it, listen about others experiences, and try to have a sense of humor over these painful, yucky, situations the more open and helpful to others we can/may become....on that note here is my most horrific and embarassing moment in my life of living with IBS/GAS! Ready? Here goes...true story! 2003: my boyfriend and I went to a very classy upscale hotel in St. Louis Mo. for a weekend getaway. We got a beautiful king suite (mind you we didn't have alot of money so this was a real treat for us!) After the romantic activity was over with we were laying in our nice fluffy bed talking...and my boyfriend got on his knees in bed and pulled out a ring box out of his pants pocket! Talk about romantic!!!! As he began to ask me to marry him I felt my lovely IBS/GAS starting to build up and become painful....I tried my hardest not to let anything escape during his speech but to no avail! Out comes the gas! If it would have just been a short quick burst of gas he would have ignored it and continued on with his speech...however, that was not the case! As he spoke my gas escape became louder and louder, his speech volume went up as he was trying his hardest to overlook this...however it kept on getting louder and louder and longer and longer with no break in sight! Finally he stopped talking....my face was beet red, and I was humiliated to no end! No escape route in site as I was not dressed fully so I had to sit there and let it all out! Once I stopped, he resumed his proposel, I of course said yes(It takes a strong man to still want to marry me after that!)! The only thing I could do was apologize and laugh at myself, once I started laughing, he began too laugh and that my friends is the thing we remember the most about his proposal and continue to laugh quite hystarically every time we think about it! I have gotten over the humiliation part but still get embarrassed a bit but continue to tell the story and bring laughter to others! Honest to goodness, true story! :) take care and I hope you feel better soon! M

embarassing/funny story

What a great story. My gas (both upper and lower) are loud and pronounced, and though I'm embarassed by it, I just have to laugh. What bothers me is when it smells, profoundly and lingeringly. What I need is a dog to blame it on!
