The Dec 17 CFIDS Assoc. Webinar described below is now concluded and will soon be archived as a video at http://www.cfids.org/webinar/series2010-past.asp
The CFIDS Association of America hosted a Webinar & Q&A on the Blood XMRV Working Group's Progress on Friday, Dec 17. By way of background:
One Year Ago, the federal Dept. of Health & Human Services charged a “Blood XMRV Scientific Research Working Group” (SRWG) with determining whether and to what extent XMRV might pose a threat to blood supply safety.
The Group Undertook a 4-Phase Project to establish test procedures that can be universally considered reliable standards, and determine what proportion of blood donors may test positive for XMRV.
The SRWG presented an update on their progress at the FDA’s Dec 14 Blood Products Advisory Committee meeting. And because the presentation was not broadcasted, two SRWG members have agreed to explain their findings and plans internationally via a CFIDS Assoc. webcast on Dec 17. They will also answer selected questions that have been submitted to them.
The Webinar Presenters are University of California-San Francisco immunologist http://www.bsrisf.org/i-gsimmons.html Dr. Graham Simmons, PhD, and http://www.bsrisf.org/i-mbusch.html virologist Dr. Michael Busch, MD, PhD, director of the Blood Systems Research Institute in San Francisco.
