National Conference to Feature “Unifying Theories” of CFS and of FM

  [ 1481 votes ]   [ Discuss This Article ] • November 27, 2006

What does all the recent CFS and FM research mean – practically - for doctors and patients? On May 4-5, 2007, many top U.S. CFS and FM researchers will convene in Salt Lake City, Utah, to describe their Advances in Understanding and Treating Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Fibromyalgia Syndrome.

This “continuing education conference for medical and mental healthcare providers” will also include patient sessions, yet to be detailed. The conference’s co-sponsors are the nonprofit Organization for Fatigue & Fibromyalgia Education & Research (OFFER) and the VA Salt Lake City Health Care System.

As detailed below, highlights on Day 1 will be a “unifying theory” for each condition – presented for CFS by Charles Lapp, MD, and for FM by Andrew Holman, MD. These will reflect and complement presentations on the latest research and information about genetic polymorphisms and genomics, the stress response system, infection and immune factors, chronic sleep disturbances, the autonomic nervous system, the evolution of acute to chronic pain, and pediatric CFS. Presentations on treatment and disability/patient advocacy will follow on Day 2.

Seating will be limited. For a handout to offer your healthcare providers, for further information, or to register, go to Phone: 801-328-8080 Fax: 801-359-7401

The presentations and presenters will include:
