Letters From Our Readers - Letter of the Month for November

It's Not What I Do But Who I Am November’s Letter of the Month was written by Gloria Winscott. Gloria wins a $100 gift certificate for ProHealth supplements.

Thank you for all the work you do in putting together such good information and being proactive on behalf of us who have ME/CFS. I was diagnosed in 1994 but nothing was really available that helped me. The two years prior to diagnosis, I was told I was just working too hard. Take naps!

I went to several doctors and even was vocally laughed at by a doctor who was supposed to know something about Fibromyalgia…I had to quit my profession as a civil litigation lawyer because I could no longer remember what I was reading or remember the facts of my case…

But I learned an important lesson. After many tears, I realized my worth is not found in what I do, but in who I am.

I attacked my disease like a good trial lawyer. I read everything I could and took the information to doctors. I finally found a good one who really helped me. I've come a long way. I learned to live with certain limitations, but I don't let it stop me from 'living.' Next month I am returning to Uganda to help out at the orphanage where I support a little boy and the mission work. I am now a grandma and have fun with the grandkids and then rest the entire next day. But it sure is worth it.

I tried every supplement that offered any hope over the last 13 years. Nothing really made a difference. Just last month I ordered Dr. Pall's [antioxidant] program, and much to my amazement, I felt better. Not necessarily more energy, but a feeling of well-being; something I treasure, because those days are usually few and far between.

This disease doesn't get any easier as you get older and naturally slow down anyway. I can't explain why Dr. Pall's concoction works for me, but thank the Lord it does! I am very encouraged by the new research into cellular causes. CFS acceptance and research has come a long way due to people like you and the good doctors on the team. Thank you for everything. God bless you. – Gloria Winscott

gloria, i really enjoyed your letter of the month. i noticed you were a civil litigation lawyer before you had to give this up due to our illnesses. do you know with your lawyer expertise if any CLASS ACTS LAWSUITS have been filed for our illnesses: chronic LYME DISEASE, fibromyalgia, or chronic fatigue? we've been having a conversation about that lately on www.lymenet.org in ACTIVISM FORum. if you have any details about that, could you please go to that area and post them there? we'd really appreciate your help and experience in this matter. best wishes overseas helping in uganda!! happy holidays wherever you are! Betty Gordon, Ames, Iowa .... chronic lyme activist!
