25-hydroxy-vitamin D or 25(OH)D is the circulating form of vitamin D and routinely used to diagnose vitamin D deficiency. The highly respected Vitamin D Council - a nonprofit educational organization headed by some of the world’s most prominent vitamin D scientists - recommends that 25(OH)D levels be between 50 and 80 ng/mL, year around.

These levels, they say, assure that vitamin D metabolism is normalized – i.e., in line with “natural” levels normally achieved by people who work in the sun.

To help ensure that patients can obtain information about their vitamin D status, the Vitamin D Council recently partnered with a testing laboratory – ZRT Labs - to make vitamin D test kits available to the public at a discount.

For more information and to order a test kit online, click here. (Not currently available to patients in New York State.)

It says at the bottom of previous article that, "Not evaluated by the FDA" So, how do I know it is a acurate and reliable test result?
