Dr. Daniel Peterson, co-founder of the Whittemore Peterson Institute for Neuro-Immune Disease (www.wpinstitute.org) and a leading name in ME/CFS patient care, has “figure-headed” the WPI from concept to development to physical fact - all as he and Annette Whittemore hoped and planned.
Now, as he returns to full time hands-on work with patients, Dr. Peterson says, “I am extremely proud to have been a part of the creation of this medical research institute which promises to bring exciting new answers to patients with complex neuro-immune diseases.”
Like Dr. Peterson, the candidate now sought to be his successor will function as both medical director and practicing physician. Qualifications will have to include “extensive experience in infectious disease, clinical trials, and medical management.” The plan is to have the new medical director in place when the center opens this fall.

Soon, people seeking understanding diagnosis, care, and research for ME/CFS, fibromyalgia, chemical sensitivity, and other neuro-immune illnesses will have a top medical center that’s all about them.
The 100,000-square-foot WPI research & patient clinic/treatment center (Center for Molecular Medicine), now under construction at the University of Nevada School of Medicine, Reno, is on course to open this fall as planned.
