Could any of your ME/CFS symptoms (e.g., fatigue, temperature sensitivity, faintness on rising, nasal congestion, salt craving, loose joints, etc.) be related to a heart rate/blood pressure regulation problem? Via Slides and Audio, this Sept. 1, 2010 CFIDS Association webinar features a presentation by Peter Rowe, MD - director of the Chronic Fatigue Clinic at the Johns Hopkins Children's Center in Baltimore. Dr. Rowe describes different forms of orthostatic intolerance (OI) & common symptoms; cases illustrating different forms of it often seen in chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS); and ways to manage it.

Dr. Rowe explains the different forms of OI, including neurally mediated hypotension (NMH) and postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS) and other names used to describe these conditions.

He also covers conditions that overlap and co-exist with OI including joint hypermobility, Ehlers Danlos Syndrome (EDS), migraine, allergy, pelvic congestion syndrome. Finally, he reviews medications used to treat OI as well as postural and dietary approaches to comprehensive care, such as salt tablets.
