Lowered Cholesterol at Age 86

I really enjoy your site. I have switched to red yeast rice, which has taken my cholesterol down to a more healthy range. I'm hoping that some day before I'm gone (I am 86 years old) someone will find some natural product to substitute for LyricaR and Cymbalta.R I have an awful lot of prescriptions to keep me going; a literal cocktail of poisons goes through my system every day. I'm tempted to try acupuncture for the pain in my feet, instead of the Cymbalta and Lyrica. Thank you for "listening." - Dot

Purple Grape Juice Helps Pain

First I'd like you to know I have learned a lot from you. I have fibromyalgia, nueropathy, and rheumatoid arthritis, to start with. A little note [I’d like] to share: purple grape juice or purple grapes are so helpful for pain. It is the pectin that works. Thanks for all the help I get from your programs. [I hope] this might help somebody. – Patricia

Gradual Cold Shower for Fatigue

A gradual cold shower at around 62-70 degrees F (17-21C) seems to relieve my fatigue quite quickly. A gradual adaptation phase lasting 5 to 7 minutes before the cold shower can make the procedure quite easy to do and not stressful. – Irene

Don’t Swim – Do Deep Water with Belt

Don't swim - it is an anaerobic exercise, because you hold your breath and still need energy to muscles to do the exercise = oxygen deficit = lactic and toxic build up, which is problem/pain for the body. [In aerobic exercise the body uses oxygen to create energy. In anaerobic exercise the body creates the energy without oxygen.]

Just float, or I found this wonderful..... Do try “deep water” aqua class. It is upright. Therefore, you are not holding your breath. You wear a belt and it keeps you up, so no effort needed. You must do NO resistance movements. It is important not to use the muscles even if you want to, unless you have progressed to where you do not suffer from oxygen deficit - even then it is more beneficial to just move without resistance....

The hydrostatic pressure of the water reduces blood pressure… Never get out of breath; slow down if you feel tingling as in using oxygen, as the problem we have is getting into deficit (like running a marathon) within a very short time. If you learn to read your body you will feel the moment it changes into using oxygen and you must slow down further for it to be helpful.

You can stretch, which is really great without having to bear tension on another muscle group to do it - this is fantastic. My muscles tend to contract most of the time and feel rigid – they don’t know when to relax. Recently this is changing. Ask the pool to use the lift [to help you] into the water - you need to be able to swim, though, if it is really deep water. – H

Informative, Entertaining Article

Re: the article “Chemical Sensitivities - Smell, Immunity, and the Brain.”

This article was highly informative, also entertaining. I intend to download his book and read it. [Dr. Mark Donohoe’s free book on chemical sensitivities – Killing Us Softly.] Who knew the brain was part of the endocrine system in our body! Having MCS along with ME/CFS is challenging. Chemicals can definitely trigger ME flares. – SisterLDM
