The Fibromyalgia Recovery Group
is pleased to announce the “International Fibromyalgia Symposium” to be held August 20-22, 2004 at The Phoenician in Scottsdale, Arizona. Leading researchers and practitioners in the field of fibromyalgia syndrome (FMS) will deliver keynote addresses, panels and hands-on sessions to explore state-of-the-art treatment solutions and lifestyle improvements for patients that suffer with this often misunderstood and misdiagnosed disease.
The International Fibromyalgia Symposium
will be the largest ever gathering of fibromyalgia sufferers, including coordinators from FMS support groups throughout the world who represent thousands of FMS patients. More importantly, the symposium will be the first event to include their physicians, nurses, physical and massage therapists, dentists, and pediatricians. More than twenty doctors, researchers, and treatment experts will speak over the three-day conference. The format of keynotes, panels and hands-on sessions will satisfy an urgent need for dialog between doctors, patients, caregivers, families and other medical professionals that is currently absent in many treatment situations.
Among the keynote speakers will be Dr. Paul St. Amand, M.D. of The Fibromyalgia Treatment Center who has been leading FMS research for more than 30 years. His breakthrough discoveries in diagnosing FMS and its causes have lead the field for decades and he will share his latest research with the attendees. In addition to his keynote, Dr. St.Amand, who is an Assistant Clinical Professor at UCLA, will teach hands-on sessions in ‘mapping’ techniques for accurate diagnoses and monitoring recovery from FMS. Other key speakers include Dr. John Willems, M.D., Clinical Associate Professor at University of California, San Diego, and Chairman of the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology at Scripps Clinic who will discuss treatment strategies for gynecological symptoms, and rheumatologist Dr. Joel Depper, M.D., a noted expert in the treatment of FMS. Dr. Flora Parsa Stay, D.D.S., author of “The Complete Book of Dental Remedies” and a specialist in oral health for FMS patients, will provide a session on FMS Mouth Problems and Solutions.
The International Fibromyalgia Symposium is being co-sponsored by Banner Health, a not-for-profit organization providing comprehensive health care services to patients in eight Western and Midwestern states. Banner will be providing physicians with CME (Continuing Medical Education) credit for qualifying sessions. Companies such as yours who sell products that are recommended for use by people suffering from fibromyalgia are urged to display them at this conference. We are anticipating 400-500 physicians and patients will be in attendance and looking for products to recommend to their patients and support group members.
