October 12 in Anaheim, CA – NFA to Host Free Fibromyalgia Seminar Offering Latest News and Approaches, in partnership with California State University-Fullerton

The National Fibromyalgia Association, in partnership with California State University, Fullerton (CSUF), will present "An Integrative Approach to Fibromyalgia Treatment" on Friday, Oct. 12, from 9 a.m.-noon, at CSUF in the Titan Theatre, Titan Student Union.

This free seminar will include the latest news and approaches on treating fibromyalgia, a chronic pain illness, often debilitating, that affects up to 10 million Americans. The seminar also includes a Q&A session with the presenters, considered among the top fibromyalgia experts in the country.

Topics include:

  • Functionality and Fibromyalgia

  • Efficacy of Biofeedback as a Mind-Body Intervention for Fibromyalgia

  • Integrative Medicine for Treatment of Fibromyalgia
  • ABOUT THE PRESENTERS

    Maureen Haney, MS, is director of the Psychophysiology Lab and an instructor in Health Science at California State University, Fullerton and teaches courses to prepare students for national certification in biofeedback. Her current clinical and research interests include medical psychophysiology, biofeedback, heart rate variability, stress management, optimum functioning and biology of hope and optimism.

    Jessie Jones, PhD, is Professor in Health Science, Co-director, Center for Successful Aging, Director, Fibromyalgia Research and Education Center. Her research focus is on factors influencing functionality among people with fibromyalgia (FM) and factors related to aging successfully with FM. Dr. Jones is Principal Investigator of the FAME Project: Fibromyalgia Assessment, Management, and Education, and is a board member for the National Fibromyalgia Association (NFA).

    David P. Martin, MD, PhD, is an Associate Professor of Anesthesiology at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. His clinical practice specializes in pain medicine, surgical anesthesia, liver transplant, and acupuncture. He will discuss pharmacologic and complementary treatments, with an emphasis on the use of acupuncture for the treatment of fibromyalgia.
