A YouTube video of the Dec 3 Dr. Oz Show segment on CFS & XMRV - "Retroviruses: The Medical Reason You Could Be Exhausted" - is now online at www.youtube.com/watch?v=_WEUC7hRXzM.

The 13-minute segment features the testimony of guest expert Dr. Donnica Moore, MD (popularly known as “Dr. Donnica”), and "Gina," one of the patients who tested positive for XMRV in the recent study.

Dr. Moore writes and speaks on women’s health issues and manages the informative website DrDonnica.com. To further inform those who watch the segment, DoctorOz.com has posted a supplementary article that she wrote - “What is Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, and How is XMRV Related?”

The brief article is intended to help individuals determine whether they may have fatigue for some other reason, or Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. It includes:

• Dr. Moore's printable “Decisionnaire for CFS” – a list of diagnostic symptoms that people can check off as appropriate and take with them to review with their physician.

• An explanation of “What CFS is Not,”

• Advice for those who suspect they may have CFS, such as avoiding blood donations.

• And basic "Tips for PWCs" (People with CFS), the first step being to find a knowledgeable physician and get a proper diagnosis.

XMRV and CFS

Well that is a huge leap, but I don't know if it is FORWARDS or not. She talks as if she KNOWS that XMRV is the cause of CFS, and that is just not a fact yet, unless I missed something between the end of summer 2009 and Dec. 2009, because in October we were still all abuzz about the NEWS that XMRV has been found in most but not all CFS patients... but thats all we know, we don't know pathology or anything. Slow down - XMRV is only a theory so far!!

Yes. The retrovirus XMRV looks as though it is very much connected in people with ME/CFS but the research has yet to be replicated, so thee is nothing definite yet. It is suggested that it will be spring 2010 when we will know more!!
