Fibromyalgia: The Patient Who Hurts too Much - A New Guide to FM Diagnosis & Treatment

  [ 51 votes ]   [ Discuss This Article ] • December 16, 2009

“The Patient Who Hurts too Much” is a fibromyalgia education module based on a typical case study and new research, developed by the nonprofit Foundation for Care Management (FCM).

The free module informs through a series of slides narrated by FCM member Kathleen K Davis, MD. “The Patient Who Hurts too Much” is designed to guide healthcare professionals (and anyone who wants a basic medical understanding of fibromyalgia), through the logic of best practices for diagnosing and treating it.

Professionals and others who step through the module will learn the common symptoms of FM, narrow down the list of other diagnoses that are possible and should be ruled out, learn which tests will be useful/which not, and review helpful drugs & other treatments for FM and overlapping conditions. Users have the opportunity to try answering questions at each step, or just keep clicking through the lesson.

Physicians, pharmacists, and nurses who demonstrate they understand the lessons will receive continuing medical education credit.
