Dr. Nancy Klimas, MD, director of the CFS Clinic in Miami, exercise physiologist Connie Sol, and ME/CFS patient/videographer Dan Moricoli have developed a multi-part video series to help people support healing through movement while avoiding post-exercise malaise (what the new International Consensus Criteria for ME call ‘post-exertional neuroimmune exhaustion’). Needed equipment is limited to an inexpensive heart rate monitor like the wristwatch-type worn by participants in the video.
Following is the first video, on Step 1 in the Klimas Exercise & ME/CFS Program - The VO2 Max Testing Procedure.
The remaining three videos include:
• The Post VO2 Max Testing Consult,
• A video featuring Connie Sol demonstrating first steps to a patient (and explaining how even bedridden patients can get started safely),
• And a wonderful “personal view” of the program by Dan Moricoli. He shows a video of himself 18 months earlier, before he started the VO2 Max-based exercise program that Dr. Klimas devised, and explains how it has helped him to improve.
YOU CAN WATCH THE WHOLE SET OF VIDEOS FREE at an ME-CFS Community.com site that Dan created and helps moderate, called The Exercise Group, at http://cfsknowledgecenter.ning.com/group/theexercisegroup?xg_source=msg_mes_network.
The Exercise Group's many resources are free to all - videos, exercise support & information, and discussions. But as noted, they can only continue their services with your financial support. “A contribution of just $5 from you would be gratefully appreciated.”
To all who worked hard to offer these resources, thank you for the inspiration.
