New Omega 3 Study Flawed

Re: “Latest Omega-3 Prostate Cancer Study – Don’t Believe All You Read”

In summary, the new Omega 3 study was flawed. It didn't test directly the effects of Omega 3, but rather looked back on the data after the fact, without looking at the KNOWN prostate cancer risk factors, and simply said that people with higher levels of Omega 3 in their blood had higher risks of having cancer. But, they didn't mention if people were taking Omega 3 FOR their cancer, which might explain the higher levels. AND, it doesn't say if the higher levels of Omega 3 were due to the body's inability to process and use it effectively, which was why they had cancer in the first place. If you were thinking about quitting fish oil because of this study, DON'T. There are dozens of other scientifically performed studies that show that fish oil is VERY beneficial, especially BEFORE you have cancer. Omega 6 is needed by the body for normal functions, but we Americans eat way too much Omega 6 already, so balancing it with Omega 3 is the way to go. AND, they didn't mention anything about Omega 3's effect on reducing heart disease, which affects both men and women. I easily take 1g fish oil with each meal (3 times per day), and it reduces my inflammation and FM symptoms greatly. That wasn't mentioned either. Good luck, folks. - Sandy10m

Q: Quite a lengthy read. It would have been appreciated to know where a supplement could be bought containing CQ10 etc. I do take CQ10 but never heard of the others.

Thank you very much - Monique (FM for 16 years)

How to Treat Migraine?

Re: “Getting to Grips With Migraine”

Q: My wife has had migraines off and on for years. The only thing that has helped her is taking migraine headache aspirin, flax-seed oil pills or a some type of pain killer like codeine and going straight to bed. Does anyone have any other treatments that work for them? I feel helpless when they come on and I hate trekking everyone to the ER. -  JacksonBrown

---------------

A: Imitrex works for me. Avoiding food triggers also helps. I've also noticed that taking ibuprofen will PREVENT migraines from developing, but not do anything for them once they develop. But I think taking ibuprofen every day is probably not good for you. Hope that helps. - jenunsa
