Ever get that bloated feeling? Well, you could be retaining water. In cases where medical causes of fluid retention are ruled out, there are some easy and safe ways to get rid of that extra water.

* Drink plenty of water throughout the day. Yes, drinking water is the best way to stop water retention. Why? Your kidneys need a constant supply of water to properly eliminate fluids and waste from your body. If water is in short supply, the kidneys will store water away and bloating can set in.

* Cut back on salty food. Excessive salt makes your body retain water. Try to use less than a half teaspoon of salt when fixing your meals.

* Exercise. Aerobic exercise like walking, jogging, or biking keeps your blood vessels toned and resilient. If your blood vessels aren’t in good shape extra water can flow from them and collect in tissues, causing water retention.
