Center Specializes in Clinical Molecular Medicine

Clinical molecular medicine, a new and exciting field that studies the environment’s effects on human illness, immune system function, toxins that may have caused the illness, and nutritional chemical processes, is the focus of The Center for Environmental and Preventive Medicine, Inc., in Atlanta, Georgia.

The center’s goal is to determine the basic reason for fibromyalgia. This involves looking at what might have injured the immune system, studying toxins that might be present in the patient’s body, and looking at the immune system and its characteristics.

“We go to the basic processes inside the cells that are not functioning properly to find and treat illness,” says Dr. Stephen Edelson, founder of the center.

Dr. Stephen Edelson believes that the accepted medical approach to the treatment of a chronic disease today is to identify the illness by name and then treat the symptoms. There is never an attempt to identify the “basic” cause of the illness and “healing” of the body is never part of the orthodox medical approach. Dr. Edelson’s approach is different.

The first step in his procedure is to learn everything about a patient’s life – from birth to present.

“We do skin and blood testing looking for foods, chemicals, preservatives, and additives that might be responsible for setting off the chain of events that lead to fibromyalgia,” says Dr. Edelson.

Once that is complete, a physical exam follows. Dr. Edelson then puts together a comprehensive profile that enables him to “fill in the pieces of the puzzle” of the patient’s illness.

The healing techniques used at the center include removing toxins from the body, healing the body’s immune system, and most importantly – building up the immune system so that it is more resistant. Top those off with a dose of oral and intravenous vitamins, minerals, amino acids, and other important nutrients and you have a recipe for potential success.
