If you have Chronic Fatigue Syndrome or fibromyalgia, good communication skills are vital for effective self-advocacy. Learn effective communication so you can get your message across. It’s not difficult. Just remember the following rules: • Be brief.
• Stick to the point.
• Don’t allow yourself to be diverted or to ramble on with unimportant details.
• State your concern, what you want, or how you want things changed.
• Write things out in advance, if you feel that you won’t remember what to say.
• If you feel you have a hard time communication clearly or effectively, practice with a counselor or supporter.
