Melvin Ramsay Society Annual Scientific and Medical Symposium

The Melvin Ramsay Society Annual Scientific and Medical Symposium: Friday 14 November 2003, in London, England

There are a limited number of places available for doctors and other health professionals who would like to attend this meeting.

Presentations, which start at 2pm, are as follows:

- Evidence that CFS is a central fatigue disorder and suggestions
for possible therapy: Dr Evelina Georgiades
- A pilot study of trace element metabolism in CFS: Dr Abhijit
- Microarray analysis of muscle in CFS: Dr Hawys Williams
- Information processing in CFS: Dr Andrea Papitsch
- At 4pm, there is the 2003 Melvin Ramsay Medallist Lecture. This is being given by Professor Dedra Buchwald, University of Washington, Seattle, USA, on 'The Genetics of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome'. Professor Buchwald and her research team have been investigating genetic aspects of ME/CFS for several years, partly through the use of a twin register that they have set up, and the results of some of this important research have now started to appear in the scientific literature.

If any doctor or health professional would like to attend this meeting, please confirm your intention to do so as soon as possible as there are only a limited number of places available. There will also be a subsidised buffet lunch (starting at 1pm) available to non-members of the Melvin Ramsay Society at a cost of £15. If you wish to attend the lunch as well please send a cheque for £15 made out to the Melvin Ramsay Society to:  Karen Walsh, MRS Secretary, National ME Centre, DSC, Harold Wood Hospital, Romford, Essex RM3 OAR.

The cost of Melvin Ramsay Society medical and scientific meetings is largely met by the members. Contributions towards the costs are always welcome, and can also be sent to the Secretary. Cheques should be made out to 'The Melvin Ramsay Society'.
