Has anyone with lupus had a wound that won't heal? Im 17 years old and have had 4 surgeries since June due to not healing properly from the first surgery!

What do your docs have to say about this?

Some of the meds lupus patients are put on have potential to slow the healing process. Could that be a factor? If so, you may have to be patient.

Adequate nutrition is always a factor in healing processes. Are you eating a healthful diet with just the occasional treat? How about adding a broad-spectrum therapeutic grade multivitamin?

I am so sorry that you are going through this. I am 47 and have also had a summer of surgeries this past summer - first an emergency appendectomy followed by 2 abdominal accesses which is rare - 1 is not so unusual but 2 is. My incision had some complications healing and we had to pack a seroma (serus fluid pocket - yuck) so it would stay open and heal from the inside out. ANyhow it's 6 weeks out now and I think it is healed - whew. I had thought the problem was based in the meds I was on but now am coming to the conclusion that it is mainly due to the disease of Lupus/RA and of course the meds didn't help with the infections. So, the good news is A. your not alone in a wound that has a hard time healing and B. Mind finally did heal.
