Childhood Lupus and Gamma Goblin shots

Approx. six or seven years ago I was dx with lupus. I am now in my 40s. When I was a child (apprx 6 or 7 years old) I was getting sick a lot. This was in the early 70's. My doctor at the time couldn't figure out why I was running constant fevers and having sore throats. So, he thought they should take out my tounsils and adnoids. No more than a week or two after that, I started continued with the low grade fevers. The year before I had had severe pnemonia. He put me back in the hospital for over a week and ran lots of test. Finally, he came back and explain to me and my parents in simple kid like terms that my blood cells couldn't tell the difference between good cells and bad cells. He said they attacked everything. He said that I need to take gamma goblin shots. From that point forward I had those shots every week for a while and then once a month until I was probably 13 years old. They would test my blood every six months for something called igm's. A few years later I still was having a lot of headaches and sick a lot.. especially around late Nov. and Dec. every year. So,they tested me for allergies. They said I was highly allegic to almost everything and I need allergy shots once a week too. So, I started taking these shots. I took them for a long time and started getting worse. I would get very sick after I had the shots and eventually I talked my doctor and parents into discountinuing them. Then, in middle school (I don't remember if this was before or after we stopped the gamma goblin shots) I had an episode which my doctor label anseptic menigentis which they were very concerned about and actually thought I was not going to make it during the first 24 hours. So, my question is in considering all this, what part, if any could the gamma goblin shots have played in my lupus? Could it have induced my lupus? Did I have lupus since I was little? Did it help or hurt my lupus? I had many lupus like symptoms all through childhood and just was thinking about all this and reading on g.g. shots and wondered if they couldhave somehow kicked in my lupus by overstimulating my immune system. I am not a doctor nor do I know much about medicine except that that I have read since becoming so ill. I would love feedback on this, and if anyone else was ever treated with such therapies. I also was always given usually two perscriptions and a penicillian shot when I got sick and then got sicker when I was little. Just like to know if anybody had similar symptoms or issues. Could all of that antibodics messed up my system? Just searching for answers. :)

Gamma Globulin

I do not know if Gamma Globulin shots could have triggered your lupus. However, when I was in high school, one of my close friends had Polio. All of us who were close friends with her were given Gamma Globulin injections as a deterrent. I was diagnosed w/ Systemic Lupus when I was forty yrs. old and a good friend of mine (who also was given the GG shots) contacted Lyme's disease. Also, in the late 70s, I received the Swine Flu vaccine and that is when all my lupus symptoms began. So, I believe that the vaccine (Swine flu) triggered my lupus although it was likely lying dormant in my body all along. So, I guess all I'm saying is that many things we received while growing up could have affected our immune systems and it would take a medical detective to figure it all out. Guess all we can do is "go from here" ! Good luck to you.
The good news is I was diagnosed w/ central nervous system lupus at forty and I am now seventy one.
