DO YOU RUN OUT OF THE ROOM?
|
DO PEOPLE ACT LIKE YOU ARE OVER REACTING? WHEN YOU KNOW YOU MUST GET AWAY FROM A SMELL? DO PEOPLE LAUGH AT YOU FOR ALMOST GOING OUT WITH A SMELL THAT THEY CAN'T SMELL BUT YOU CAN? MOM

Yes...!

My family will do this with me, including my kids. They can't understand why I am like this. I have had this problem since in my 20s and I am 46 now. My husband makes sure that all windows and doors are thrown open before using any cleaning products in the bathrooms. Take care... :-(

No one understands! I feel like I can't breath or I just NEED to get away from a smell. It drives me nuts that I smell things and others think I'm crazy because they can't smell the smell thing. My DH is getting better about this and trying to understand this more but still doesn't really get it.

you need to rid your house of any products that make you feel like this. your house, at least, should be a safe zone. AFM cleaners and paints work well for me. i use super clean in the kitchen and safety clean in the bathroom. absolutely no odor and they work well. you can get them from needs.com which is a catalog for the chemically sensitive.

My doctor told me to put up a sign by my front door to let people know that if they were using colognes or after shave lotions not to come in. The only ones that think I'm over reacting are my husband's family. My husband understands my situation, I'm not the only one that suffers from this, our two daughters have MCS also. I also have FM and have been noticing that if I go shopping specially now, with all the holiday scents, I pay for it the next day feeling sick and in pain. In a store if I smell someone with colognes, I just walk away until they leave the area. No, we are not over reacting. Tut90

I also have a sign on my front door. Here's a few if someone needs to print one out, (there's a few about 1/2 way down this page), http://www.mcs-awareness.org/

Yes, me too. I am new to posts and i see these were from 2008 but am joining in anyway. i too suffer from slightest of smells and run out of a room. Can't walk down certain isles at the stores. It's a hard way to live. That on top of the Fibro, migraines, thyroid....it's hard to be in such a hypersensitive state of being.

I HAD TO SEND OUT A MEMO AT WORK TELLING ALL THE PEOPLE NO PERFUME OR COLOGNE. I HAD TO, CHEAP PERFUMES ARE THE WORST! THEY ATTACH TO PAPERWORK AND LINGER IN THE ROOM FOR HOURS AFTER THE PERSON HAS LEFT. I GET AN INSTANT SORE THROAT FROM STRONG CLEANERS, AIR FRESHENERS AND CANDLES. MY NEXT DOOR NEIGHBOR ALSO WEARS THE WORST PERUME EVER AND IF I TAKE A STEP OUT SIDE I CAN SMELL THAT SHE HAS BEEN OUTSIDE. IT IS ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE. PEOPLE THINK IT IS ME JUST BEING DIFFICULT....

You have to take care of you . I can smell things others can not smeel then my toung burns , my head goes numb and I know I better get away, but sometimes I don't know where it is till we check for awhile.
