anemia and iron supplements

I am supposed to take iron tablets for anemia, but man they do a number on my stomach, cramps, bloating and diarreha. Any suggestions? I take them with food.

for one thing iron supps

are best absorbed with Vit C. I've heard/read this for years. I'm not anemic but do have lower levels of Ferritin so I do take some iron supps but do take C with it. From all I read, iron can constipate. I dread taking for that reason, but continually work to keep ferritin up.

I would look into maybe a more quality iron supp. That could make a diff. Floridex is an herbal. Standard Process may have some good iron supps and SP products are food based. Just a suggestion.

me too

Iron tablets really affect my stomach too. I can't take them. GP's only suggestion was to take iron tablets with food, that didn't help, so now I take liquid iron (Floradix) instead and it doesn't bother my stomach.
