Brown recluse spiders in my house anxiety through the roof

Hi all ,my anxiety has went throught the roof! I have been having alot of spiders in my house since the last part of summer and found out recently they are all brown recluse. So im panicking big time and very paranoid about putting on any clothing thats been in my closets. shaking everything or re washing . Scared to crawel under the blankets at night ( the exterminator guy said most people get bitten while rolling over on one in bed. That will really help me sleep good.. haha I had the exterminator come and spray twice now (just what I need all those chemicals) but didnt feel I had a choice. anyway just needed to talk to someone as with fibro and panic/anxiety disorder it doesnt take much to get my mind going. God bless

I have been there!

Hi Campbeck97!

I was bitten by a brown recluse years ago while I was visiting the "Treasure Island Casino" in Las Vegas. I was standing outside next to a wooden pillar that had a rope, (BTW...they LOVE to live in "woody places"), viewing the Pirate Show.

Anyways, the two things that you really need to be careful of is that their bite is so gentle, that you do not feel it when it happens! The other thing is, the poison stays in the body for up to 6 months, so you may have to visit your Dr. frequently during that time if you get bit. The poison starts to kill off tissue through out your body. I got bit on the front of my shin on my left leg. 12 yrs later, I still have a big dent in my leg where the tissue & bone got affected.

Now I should say, it has been quite a few years since I got bitten, and today they may have better medicine that destroys the poison in your body where it won't hang around for months on end...at least I would expect there to be something out there for it!

I am sorry if I am increasing your anxiety, I just want you to know that I totally understand your fear! Plus, you should be OK, as long as you stay away from lifting & moving old pieces of wood. (I am not sure where you live, but I hope this is possible.)

My thoughts are with you, and be careful! :)

Just wanted to tell you I built that 53 foot pirate ship at the casino.....

The sad part is I have never been there to see it...

And sorry I don't know anything about spiders...except they creep me out....

Brown recluse spiders in my house anxiety through the roof

So sorry to hear about your situation.
Just wondering if you can tent your house like we do for termites here in Florida?

Hi, I'm in central Kansas. Yeah Ive upped my xanax but still having anxiety over these darn spiders.I not really afraid of spiders usually but when the only ones ive seen are all brown recluse it scares me. and of course i have researched them on the internet and viewed the horrible bite pictures(shouldnt have done that).I have caught 17 in the last month or so in these glue traps that the exterminator left.It worries esp. when my grandson stays with us which is about 5 night a week. The extrminator says they can go without food and water for several months! I have been busy trying to get rid of extra clutter in and around the house . Anyway I hate them!!! God Bless

wow- you built that ship - how cool & how sad - I wish that somehow some day you could see the show - it is very cool

I actually saw it for free many yrs ago....I never had any desire to go to Vegas, but my then-husband won a trip from the Loop radio station to go there to see Mike Tyson return to the ring (I don't like boxing and really don't like Tyson, but the trip was incredible) - we stayed at Treasure Island, saw the pirate show and all sorts of other things along the strip, and hung out with some of the people from the Loop radio.....I even have video that Danny Bonneduce took of me and he asks "who is this beautiful woman?" -yeah, I know a lot of people don't like him and I also know he was totally schmoozing, but it's still cool to be able to say that Danny Bonneduce thinks I'm beautiful : )

anyway, sorry to totally go off the topic for this thread, but that was a fun memory.........and tropical girl I hope that you have gotten rid of your spiders and are feeling a bit more calm - I actually think that spiders are neat, but not the poisonous ones
