Self-Caricature Contest Winner Announced

 Drum roll, please...

Congratulations to Jen Jasper for winning the self-caricature contest sponsored by author Celeste Cooper, RN.  The announcement was made Saturday, October 26 on Celeste's These Three Official Blog.

The winning drawing (featured at left) will appear in Celeste's upcoming book Broken Body, Wounded Spirit: Balancing the See-Saw of Chronic Pain, Winter Devotions.  Jen will also receive a signed copy of the book.

One of the reasons Celeste held this contest was to encourage all of us with chronic pain to draw a picture of ourselves that shows how we feel when we're in pain.  Why? Because it is cathartic.  In fact, experts suggest it is possibly one of the best self-reflection tools available.

Even though the contest is over, Celeste encourages you to give it a try.  You don't have to be an artist.  You can even draw a stick figure and write descriptive words around it.  The point is to make a visual representation of your pain.  You don't even have to show it to anyone if you don't want to.

So the next time you're struggling with pain, try grabbing a pencil and paper and expressing how you're feeling in a drawing.
