Norwegian Newspaper, News Site, Feature ME/CFS Patient Improved by Rituximab   (8 votes) ProHealth.com • December 14, 2012 Tweet previous article next article On Dec 13, the Norwegian newspaper Aftenposten posted a video on its site featuring an interview (in Norwegian) with Maria Gjerpe, one of the ME/CFS patients who improved significantly in the 2011 rituximab trial conducted by Drs Olav Mella and Oystein Fluge at Haukland University Hospital. The video is a preview of an article published in Aftenposten’s Dec 14 issue – circulation 658,000. The video blurb, as roughly translated to English by Google Chrome, states: “ME has been called the mysterious disease.  Now we hope and believe that researchers Olav Mella and Oystein Fluge at Haukland University Hospital are trying to solve the riddle.  Last year, they published a study that showed 10 of 15 CFS patients had responded to treatment with Rituximab. In the video they tell about what has happened since.  About how many patients have received medication, with very good response.  44 years old Gjerpe is one of them. The first time she came from Oslo to Bergen, it was with a companion and in a wheelchair.  Now she easily walks up to one mile.
