VIDEOS: The Stanford ME/CFS Symposium: Advances in Clinical Care and Translational Research
On March 19, 2014, Stanford University held a symposium on ME/CFS entitled “Advances in Clinical Care and Translational Research.”

The symposium was sponsored by the Department of Medicine and Division of Infectious Diseases and Geographic Medicine at Stanford University School of Medicine and Stanford Hospital & Clinics. The event was presided over by Dr. Jose Montoya, who is recognized as one of the world's foremost experts in ME/CFS.

Speaking at the meeting were:
  • Beth Unger on Epidemiology
  • Jarred Younger on Daily Fluctuations of Cytokines in ME/CFS Patients
  • Amit Kaushal on Gene Expression Findings in ME/CFS
  • Mehdi Skhiri on Cardiovascular Aging in CFS
  • Michael Zeineh on MRI Findings in ME/CFS
  • Marcie Zinn and Mark Zinn on Studies Suggesting Cortical Pathology in ME/CFS (EEG studies)
  • Anthony L. Komaroff on an Approach to the Medical Care of a ME/CFS Patient: Medical Interview
  • W. Ian Lipkin on Microbial Diagnostics and Discovery in ME/CFS.
There was also a panel featuring journalists Natalie Boulton, avid Tuller, and Erin Allday on "Media Portrayal of ME/CFS."

By all accounts this was a stimulating and informative symposium. (Read Dr. Ros Vallings summary of the symposium here.)

For all those who could not make it to California for this event, the videos of the symposium have now been posted on the Stanford website.

You can view the videos at your leisure here. (Each video is approximately one hour long.)

The link to the Stanford vids just goes to Stanford's ME/CFS Initiative main page now. I went to the link I used to watch a few of the vids a month or 2 ago and it doesn't work either. Have they been yanked off the internet I wonder? I was just going to share it w/ a nurse educator and professor I met who WANTS to learn more about ME/CFS. She could have some influence as she won a Norman Cousins award for a program she created and she's a passionate person. I'll get her other info but I'd love for her to be able to see these vids!
