Jeez! I don't know how much longer I can stand it. This one has been here since yesterday. I can't hardly see staight, it hurts so bad. The whole front of my head is splitting, it is always the front in the temples and behind the eyes. I took topamax.. still hurts. But I have not been taking my topamax like I should, that's probably why I am getting the headaches so bad again.

Topamax won't stop a migraine once it starts and Topamax is a preventative that you have to take EVERY DAY to build it up in your system to act as a preventative. You stop taking the Topamax and risk having the migraines come back. Now it's time for prescription migraine medication like Imitrex or the various other meds that you take when you have a migraine.

I forgot to mention that when you stop Topamax on your own, you can risk going into seizures. It is a powerful medication and you make sure you don't miss a dosage. On another board here, a man's son was in the hospital and they forgot to get him his Topamax and he went into a seizure. When you start Topamax for migraines, you start very slowly to build up and that's because it is strong and you are warned that coming off it could cause seizures. So make sure you set up a system for taking your meds so you never forget your Topamax. If you've been off it for too long, call your doctor and work with him/her to safely start back on it.
