Topamax now generic

Topamax was always so expensive just for one month. It went generic and I ordered 3 months supply from my HMO pharmacy and only paid $5 for 90 day supply. WHAT A HUGE PRICE DIFFERENCE.

Generic Topamax

I just renewed my Topamax and received a phone call from my 90 day pharmacy. First the (stupid) clerk blathered on & on about how they did not have my meds in stock and had to order them; then asked if I wanted generic Topamax or it would be 78649. (This is exactly HOW she said it). She continued to talk quickly blah, blah, blah.

I finally cut her off - I said "Do you mean DOLLARS?!?" She replied yes of course. Then I informed her, that I am not the one authorized to decide generic or not - the prescribing physician is. She told me to call him & let her know. I told her "No. You can call his office for authorization. I would prefer generic, since I can NOT afford to pay over $700 for a 3 month supply."

I agree HUGE price difference!! My co-pay is a little more than yours, but much better than $786.49

And

for a while I had to COUNT the number of pills because the HMO pharmacy was shorting me on select prescriptions. I began driving back immediately and giving them their bottles and my receipts and telling them my prescriptions were coming up short. The one seemingly teenaged male clerk asked me how I could tell because the pills were small--I told him they are not too small to count and unless he wanted me to pick up my pills and stop their line and start counting prescriptions right there on their counter in front of them that I needed the prescription count to be correct from now on. From then on the prescription counts were correct. That guy is no longer there and I suspect he was shorting pills on prescriptions and selling them because they do have pill counting machines, and the tech is supposed to double check the count (which is when he could take some pills).
