October 24, 2009
For weeks, Dr. Charles Shepherd, Medical Adviser of The ME Association (www.meassociation.org.uk), has been adding to and revising a very informative Q&A for ME/CFS patients on issues regarding swine flu and the flu vaccine).
Version 5 of the Q&A, posted Oct 24, includes for example:
• The latest information on swine flu vaccine,
• Updated feedback from people with ME/CFS who have had swine flu - and where appropriate have taken Tamiflu.
• Views on questions such as “Can swine flu trigger ME/CFS in previously healthy people?” Dr. Shepherd’s response: “As infections are a very common trigger for ME/CFS, and we know that ordinary flu can trigger ME/CFS, the answer is almost certainly 'yes'. The MEA contributed to a very helpful article in The Guardian on this issue."
