I've been using flax oil for years (up to 2 T. a day). I started it many years ago when I was having uterine fibroid problems. However, I had never heard of anyone taking as much as 4 T. a day. Yesterday, my chiropractor told me to up my dose to 4 T. and start on grapeseed extract (400 mg.) to help build my immune system.
I was making progress with all of the joint related issues by using various supplements and eating anti- inflammatory diet (gave up gluten, eat lots of fish, etc.), but then was hit very hard by vertigo, the flu (was swabbed - so they said it was really the flu), another mystery virus where I had not even enough energy to lift the sheets off of me, vertigo again, and a sinus infection which was treated with an antibiotic but never went away. Dr. thought the fluid was all still related to earlier viral inner ear problem that brought on vertigo. This has all happened in the last 3 months.
I teach elementary school so the dr. just chalked it up to being around sick kids. I've never missed this much school in my life. I've missed about 15 days; it would have been more if we hadn't had weekends and snow days fall at the right time. I've drug myself to school on the other days. Now, this week the ear fluid is so bad that I've had massive dizzy spells. I worked all week except half day on Fri., but had to hold onto the wall as I took the students down the hall. My family drove me to work.
Dr. prescribed a nasal spray and told me to take Mucinex-D along with the Claritin. I have been doing that for about a month. Actually, I've only been taking the Mucinex at full doses for a little less than a week. I had been afraid to take it so much so had been taking it only in the morning. A friend at work said I should keep taking Mucinex-D until I feel absolutely no pressure in the ear. I had stopped when I could hack it. I guess that was a mistake.
Sorry for such a long explanation, but I wanted to give background on why dr. thinks I should increase flax oil. Has anyone ever taken that much a day?
Thanks so much. I've been learning so much from this message board.
