Pycnogenol or Grapseed Extract has been a MIRACLE

antioxidant for the allergies/sinus/headaches I HAD for all my life before I got on the above 13 yrs ago. I took Pycnogenol for 1 yr in 1995, and then switched to Grapeseed Extract in 1996 and have been on GE since then.

No more allergies/sinus/headaches.

I've posted TONS on the FM board on this Miracle supplement. jam

Do you take vitamin C also or just the grapeseed extract?

I have had a horrible 3 weeks with sinus, one bad vertigo attack, then the fullness in the ears that sets my anxiety through the roof, now guess I am in a crash.

Went to the doc another antibiotic which made me sick so stopped it .

Haven't been able to keep the greatgrans, my daughter may lose her job because she has missed so much work because of me.

I feel so guilty because of this so taking my xanax to help with my emotional state.

So for now, I am through with docs and will stick with the grapeseed, didn't know about adding vitamin C. Going to try to get plenty of rest in hoping to build my immune system .

Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

Hugs, greatgran

Yes, I still take Vit C

some days 500 to 1000 mg. So sorry you are having such a tough time. Sure hope this will settle down for you and you get back on some amount of good health. take good care. jam

gg: with your horrible sinus condition, make sure you take a good heavy dosing of GE for a while. Double your weight in milligrams at least. Give this dosing a try.

You may detox etc as I've heard many do, but it's all part of the detox. Work with the GE.

Thanks

Jamin, thanks for all your help. Have given up on antibiotics so will give this a try, can't hurt.

I am taking 200mg of gp and 1000 of vit.c not together try to space it out.

I am also doing the nasal rinse so maybe this will replace the antibiotics and doctors.

Hope you are having a good day. gg

gg/the day is good here

heat wave, up to about 100 here at the beach town I live in. Will now ice my knees and lower back and get in the shower and do some errands.

Really really work on things with what you are doing now. Sure hope you can turn some corners here. Do try to avoid those meds....soo soo many problems unless one really really needs them to save their life...bye for now. jam

Well, thought I was getting better awoke this morning feeling miserable again. Have been so nausated not sure if I do have a sinus infection or what the heck is going on.

Have made an appointment with the ENT, again on Tues. So for now feel I must start back on my antibiotic. I stopped because I didn't want to take it and that it was making me nausated.

Have lost my appetite so that scares the heck out of me, when I don't want to eat..haha

Please read my post that I just posted.

Hugs, gg

gg/geeeeeez

do you drink milk, consume much dairy...lots of mucous from those products. I have an older friend who will just NOT give up dairy and she has so much mucous, it's sickening when I'm around her...I would think all those foods would be upsetting to the stomach.

No dairy

Not even cheese or ice cream, nor wheat, or sugar. I try to watch and make sure I don't consume any of these but sometimes can't be avoided.

I have never cared for dairy and tryto watch what has wheat, but the doc took me off all sugar and bad carbs so trying to do what he says.

My friend, a nurse, I spoke with a few minutes this morning and she said I needed the antibiotics big time to clear this mess up and work on my diet and getting my immune system back. If not get to the doc and have the CT Scan.

Thanks and Hugs, gg

grapeseed extract

Hi jaminhealth,

I'm new to this website. I've been having sinus problems (on my right side only) for almost 3 years now. In addition to sinus/nasal congestion, the worst problem is congestion/pain/pressure I experience in my right ear. I read your post about grapeseed extract, and would love some info about it and how it's helped you.

Thanks!

Hi Smurf/as I said in my original post

my allergies/sinus issues are about history.

I started taking this antioxidant in 1995 and the FIRST thing it addressed was the allergies/sinus issues. NEVER again took any meds/drugs for sinus issues.

THere is tons of info online on GE and Pycnogenol and I have lots of posts all over these boards on this Kinda "miracle" supplement. jam

hi jamin

Do you take any specific brand of grapeseed extract? As well, what daily dose do you take? Have you had any problems with side effects?

Smurf/no side effects whatsoever for me

I've historially purchased Swansons brand. Also NOW Foods, Country Life and Source Naturals. I've been taking 200 mg per day all these years. I weigh about 165# The more one weighs, the more one needs to "saturate" their cell tissues and get it going thru the body. And cleaning out the blood.

I have friends who buy Trader Joe and Costco brands. I think they are all pretty good. Even drug stores...I guess.

PS: Some people claim they "detox" but I never have. Maybe since I've been taking it so long, my body is pretty clean, so to speak. Except for this OA. Go slow if you want to and take more or see how your body reacts. My friends never have had problems.

Jam

I had such hopes that the grapeseed extract would be the miracle drug for my sinus problems.

Since I do not have allergies but just the darn sinus infection, so the docs say, would I need to get rid of the infection before the grapeseed would kick in?

I have had this darn sinus thing for so long and seems nothing is working and after my last antibiotic reaction I am to scared to try antibiotics again.

This sinus crap is making me miserable and dysfunctional as much as the cfs. One day I think its gone only to awake with the early morning headace and the misery , not only the headache which usually leaves after I get up its the anxiety, off balance, weird head feeling, blury vision ,body aches etc. that comes with it. Also how it effects my ears, then the vertigo
I am housebound because I am afraid to go out alone not knowing what my spinning head will do.

I am calling my ENT today for an appointment but have done this before only for him to give me a Rx for antibiotics. They only work for awhile then its back but now I just can't tolerate them.

Thanks,
gg
