Finally lab results:

For my husband:
TSH 5.64 HIGH
Free T4 0.76
T4 Total 5.80 LOW

RBC 4.50 LOW
HEMO 13.3 LOW
HEMATOCRIT 38.5 LOW
MPV??? 6.3 LOW

EOS 6.1 HIGH
MONO# 0.69 HIGH

He asked about testo and the doctor said if he can get an erection, his levels are most likely normal. I made him ask and I'm sure he was embarassed. That is what wives are for :)

The doctor said he can weened off Paxil slowly and he wants to recheck thyroid in a month. He will have a follow-up in August. Feel free to explain the results because I'm new at this....

Thank you!

Oh, the doc said my husband was probably hyper at one point (reason for being underweight his whole life) and now has flipped and is hypo and that is what he needs to be treated for.

i'm not an expert but

I know the tsh is very high (hypo) but I don't see t3 test results.

The antiobodies test would be good to have since that tells us if Hashimoto's is present. Antibodies attacking the thyroid. So much to uncover with this thyroid issue. Mention the antibodies test next time too.

It's good that your doc wants to reck in one month. At that time, your DH should have thyroid antibodies run, if that hasn't been done recently (it's not on posted results).

Was the doc up on fam history of thyroid cancer?

The elevated eosinophils & monocytes suggest allergies -- have these been pinpointed for your DH & is he practicing avoidance? Allergies really screw with brain function & energy level.

Was anything said about the anemia? Any treatment? Anemia by itself produces many symptoms that confound -- increase synergistically -- the hypothyroid problem. In many cases it's pretty easy to treat.

Best wishes.

Please post the lab ranges...

to go with these labs. Also get the Free T3 the next time, very important test. Have your husband's Iron and Ferritin levels checked since the RBC and MPV are low. Another tests to have done are the Copper and Zinc Serums levels as well as Selenium. Don't forget to post the ranges to go with these new tests.

Take care... :-)

What is the antibodies test?

Is is supposed to be negative or positive?

Antibodies tests are called...

TSI (Thyroid Stimulating Immunoglobulins) TRAb (Thyroi Receptors antibodies) or TBII (Thyroid Binding Immunoglobulins) and TPOab (Thyroid Peroxidase antibodies).

I am not sure what you mean by positive or negative? These show numbers as high or low as indications of active thyroid disease.

Take care... :-)
