How do you take your Thyroid

I have been checking out several thyroid sites and have noticed suggestions about splitting doesage to 3 times a day. also they mention that some food and supplements could interfere with absorption. Just wondering how everone here is taking their armour thyroid and what that are avoiding.

Thanks
GAlynn

Hi GAlynn/since I'm now up to 4 grains

I take it in 3 doses per day and I believe I mentioned how I do that in your post on the FM board.

But for sure take your calcium at least 2 hrs away from your thyroid med. And if one takes iron, which I do, make sure to take it at least 2 hrs away from the Armour too.

Do you feel your dose is doing good for you? jam

No my dose is not helping me.

I had blood work done last week and he did not order the T3 test said TSH test is the most reliable thyroid test. It came back in the high normal range so he refuses to up my RX. I am so upset right now. I saw my GYN and she put me back on harmone replacement therapy which I know can cause you to need more thyroid meds but that didn'tphase him either. He said i would have to see an endo guy for thyroid adjust. Need new Dr. but have been unable to find one so far that would treat according to symptoms and not numbers.
Thanks for all your help
GALynn

Consider the Free Ts tests...

These are called the Free T3 and Free T4 thyroid tests. You can't go by TSH alone. Keep looking for another doctor to treat you properly.

Good luck...! :-)

I take armour thyroid

in 2 pills and have been thinking about changing it to one 1 pill morning & 1 in the evenig--I haven't talked this over with my doc though. Sometimes I just drop off a note to her and then get a call from her nurse.

Guess I will reseaerch a little more about it.

beadlady/i've found more help

on: realthyroidhelp.com

than i could from any doc, for the most part.

I take my first dose 105 mg about 8:30am and the second dose 90 mg about 4pm, and then 15 mg about 10pm or so.

I had been on 90 mg for 5+ yrs and realized I needed more Armour. jam

Armour Thyroid

I am thyroidless and take 6 grains daily. I take 4 grains early in the morning, along with my Cortisol and Iodoral Iodine. I take my remaining 2 grains, anytime between noon and 5pm, whenever I remember it. I take my Cortisol 4 times a day, again when I remember it. Avoid eating anything for an hour after taking thyroid hormones, and take no Calcium or Iron within a couple hours.

Where are you getting your Armour's Thyroid? I hope you don't mind me asking--I'm having trouble finding it.

Armour Thyroid

All the commercial pharmacies I called are out of it too. I had my doctor FAX a script to my local compounding pharmacy. He still had Armour powder and was able to make it up. You could call your nearest compounding pharmacy and check. I used Fallon Wellness Pharmacy in Latham, NY.
