being tested for hyperparathyroid problem

About four years ago I had an ultrasound done on my thyroid and they found a cluster nodule.
Nothing was done because it was only 2 centimeters. After that we moved and have switched doctors and ins a few times. Now I just found out that my calcium level is high . This was seen on a previous blood test 2 months ago. So everything is being retested. My blood pressure is very high and cholesterol is also high . Here there the weird thing my TSH,t3 and t4 all are in normal range. Plus I'm not a big dairy eater. I asked the doctor how is it that my calcium is high and I have osteoporosis??? He didn't have a clue . This is why the test are being repeated .
I had to look up parathyroid disease on my own. geezzz.
This all makes me want to bang my head against a wall . Fortunately these nodules are very very rarely cancerous . A most of the problems can be solved with a simply surgery If they will do it.

Has anyone else here had this happen to them?

daylight/there are so many knowledgeable

people on: realthryoidhelp.com

They can talk about every aspect of the thyroid and adrenals and more. I've learned so much from them. I'm so thankful that someone here directed me over there some months ago.

Hi daylight...your thyroid labs

Are these the regular T3 and T4 you had done? Did you have the Free T3 and the Free T4 done? Where are you within the normal ranges to be define as normal? We all have different set points within the normal ranges that we feel our best at. If you could post your labs together with the lab ranges we can better help you.

Would you be able to take Magnesium to help lower down the Calcium levels?

Take care... :-)

P.S. Yes, I know, it's very frustrating to have multiple health concerns.

You got me thinking and I just looked up my past tests. And they just did a t4 (free) and Tsh both in normal range

Free T4 0.80 (range 0.70-1.48 ng/dl)
TSH 1.58 (range 0.4-4.00 uiu/ml)

These tests were done back in February 2008 . Nothing has been repeated since then .

I thought that I'd had the T3 tested but I was wrong.

I take magnesium ever day with my folic acid . Hopefully my calcium level won't be to high . I just got my blood tested this last Friday so I will probably be a week before I get the results. IF they are really bad. I don't really trust this doctors staff to do the right thing in informing me of my test results. And they always seem to have their answering machine on during business hours. Get a call back for this office would take a small miracle.
Sorry for the vent I've been really sick today. I'm freaked out over this .

daylight...my thoughts

Based on your labs over a year ago, your Free T4 is on the hypO side of normal. Sometimes when one is either too hypO or hypER, the Calcium levels as well as other levels such as Glucose, Potassium, etc. can be high or low.

I suggest labs being done more often (I go every two months) of the Free T3, Free T4, and TSH at least. You want to get the Free Ts at mid ranges, at least, as to not to have problems with any mineral imbalances in your body.

{{{hugs}}}

P.S. Yes, I know what you mean. I never get a 'live' person to get in touch with me with any concerns that I may have with my health. Same thing if I use emails to get in touch with the doctor or the staff and they don't get back with me. Many things I've had to figure out on my own and with the health forums on the Internet to get the help needed.
