Any hyperthyroidism during pregnancy?

Hi Friends-

I just went to a dr. apt. with my pregnant daughter and she was told that she has hyperthyroidism?! The dr. said it may go away since all the hormones are changing, but if not, will need to see an endo. for treatment.

Have any of you experienced this before? is it common in the first trimester of pregnancy -and- throughout?

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Steach

PTU

The antithyroid drug called PTU will help with keeping the Free T4 levels down. While pregnant it is best to keep the Free T4 just a bit on the higher side of mid ranges which is better for the baby.
